Burglars Steal $500K in Jewelry, Get $1,300 For It And Brag On Facebook, Cops Say
From Doug Phillips at The Sun Sentinel
Three burglars who stole more than $500,000 in jewelry can be seen in a Facebook video waving $100 bills as they boast about their heists and chant “We got a safe,” according to police in the Village of Pinecrest in Miami-Dade.
Each of the burglars only made $1,300 for their thieving efforts, investigators say.
Two people from the posting have been arrested and the third is being sought, police said. Pinecrest police Thursday released 25 pages of arrest and incident reports from the two burglaries. Police also released pictures of some of the stolen jewelry.
The robberies happened about two weeks apart. In the first one, on May 27th, burglars stole more than $500,000 in jewelry from a home along the 13200 block of Southwest 63rd Court.
And on June 9th, the same burglars stole jewelry valued at more than $10,000 from a home along the 6300 block of 107th Street. During that crime, investigators found a screwdriver that would later tie one of the arrested men to the burglary, police said.
In custody are Marcus Terrell Parker, 27, of northwest Miami-Dade and Raderius Glenn Collins, 18, who lives in southwest Miami-Dade.
The video posted to Facebook shows three people, apparently in a car, taking turns mugging for the camera with one of them repeating “What’s in the bag.”
According to police, much of the stolen jewelry was found at Xodium Jewelry and Watch, in the Southland Mall, 20505 South Dixie Highway, after a search warrant was obtained. One of the two men arrested told investigators he saw many of the gold pieces from the heist being melted down at the business, police said.
He also told police that after selling the stolen jewelry to the shop, the men each received – $1,300.
Pinecrest police also say that during the investigation jewelry was found in the homes and vehicles of the two arrested men and that a safe taken during one of the burglaries was found in an open field in far southwest Miami-Dade.
